Creating the Exterior Set

To make this 1:10 exterior set of the apartment block I will be working with Finnan [this also includes the swings and the greenery]. With the moodboards, concept art and macquette in place, we were ready to begin construction. You can see the process in stages below.

The Previous Steps:

Above: Exterior set moodboard & colour pallette.

Above: Rough technical drawing.

Above: A [very] rough Marquette using the previous drawing.

Above: Concept art, elevation and isometric.

Using the Maquette to adjust the dimensions for the 16:9 frame, I was able to go on and create some updated sketches to help with construction. Using these diagrams, I put together a list of all of the cut dimensions we'd need and had them made in the wood workshop.

You can see the construction, painting and set dressing processes below in three separate parts.

Set Construction:

With the help and advice of the wood workshop technicians, I was able to create the MDF structure seen below - with Finnan's helping cutting out the windows and sanding them down.
